Ultimate Sniper Package

I'm putting together a package for Law Enforcement or who ever wants to buy it. This package will include a tactical rifle with scope, backpack style rifle case, bi-pod, wind meter, spotting scope, binoculars, GPS, multi-tool, and laser range finder. Don't kid yourself, this package will not be cheap but I will try and make it as affordable as possible. The basic idea for this is so a person who is just starting out in this field or a Law Enforcement Department just starting with observer marksmen, can buy this package and run with it. There will be a few options that you the user can choose from such as bi-pods, scopes, and stocks. This package is not limited to just "sniper rifles." These packages can be used for hunting. With the backpack style rifle case it will be well suited for back country hunting.

I hope to start building rifles by the first of the year. As I build and get the different components in I will post pictures.

Today I thought that I would share something that my brother told me about after he had tried it last hunting season. He told me what this lite mag ammo did out of his savage 270. Mind you that he has been hunting with this rifle for at least the last 15 years and using several different brands and types of bullets. Lets just say that he is sold on this ammo so I decided to look into it.

Looking at the numbers on paper this ammo is great. I have yet to shoot any of it but I really want to try some. Putting some numbers on paper for myself. I want to see how this ammo groups, the average spread in velocity, muzzle velocity and terminal ballistics. I would also like to try it out on a ballistics gel block and compare it to other bullets. Sounds like a lot of time at the range but I really don't mind.

Now these are the factory numbers taken right from the factory website. This ammo better be good for the $40 a box you'll pay for it. Hey, if it works and works well, why not?

Custom Rifle that weighs 5 3/4lbs

Well I think that I have found the ultimate light weight rifle. Chambered in .243 win, 7mm-08 rem, or .308 win. This rifle will come with a twenty inch barrel, composite stock finished in a variety of colors, deluxe recoil pad, two piece scope base, and finished off with a polished and trued action. This rifle will weigh approximately 5 3/4 lbs. If you wish to have a little more fire power and a little more weight, calibers such as 25-06, 270, 30-06 can be selected. These rifles would weigh in at approximately 6 1/2 lbs.

Options that I can add to help complete the rifle: scope and rings (scope of your choice), an extended magazine, adjustable trigger, adjustable check rest, gun case, custom hand made rifle scabbard by Bear Lake Leather that can be attached to a saddle if desired, butt stock shell holder, bi-pod, and sling. Many more extras that haven't been listed. The sky's the limit.

Base price on the rifles will be $750. Price will be adjusted upon buyer's selected options and a completed list of options and pricing will be sent to the buyer. Once the buyer has agreed upon the package and payment is made, all sales are final. See the details on payment options that I have posted on my blog. Custom Light Weight Rifle

I've heard from a few people who would like a light weight rifle. So in response I have found that I can supply a light weight 20" barreled hunting rifle. Built on a Howa 1500 action and using a Bell and Carlson stock, I can supply you a rifle that weighs 6 1/2 pounds. I'm looking into using a bamboo stock but haven't received the specs so I can't say that the finished rifle would weigh 6 1/2 pounds.

As I gather more information, I'll post it and include a finished price.

I'm thinking that building one for show would be cool and I've got one already planned. Chambered in 7mm-08 Remington with a bamboo stock. This rifle would give the shooter the advantage to use the rifle for varmints through elk. The versatility of the cartridge is great and offers little recoil for the shooter. Factory ammo is available everywhere and I hate to say it but, this cartridge shoots flatter and faster than the 308.

Ordering your custom rifle/Payment options

This is how it will work. Tell me what you want and I will put together a price list for the rifle. That list will be sent to you for final approval. Right now I will use either the Howa/Vanguard barreled action, Remington 700 action, and if you talk real nice I'll build an AR15 style rifle. As of right now it looks like I have a complete AR15 that will be for sale for $900. Email me for the details on this rifle because it has a lot of extras. I should have this one completely assembled by the first of August.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:

There are three payment options for purchasing a rifle package:

1. Full payment up front and I'll ship the rifle to your FFL dealer when completed.
2. 50% down gets the project rolling, the balance is due before shipping the rifle to the FFL dealer.
3. Layaway. 25% down with 25% due each month until paid off, and then I'll ship the rifle.

Thought that this place needed some spice!

So I had to add the music to the blog. It seemed so dead and needed a little pick-me-up. Well I will add and change songs as I want to and remember to.

I need to get a stereo in the jeep so that I have tunes when I'm out crusin. Sad thing is that I have the stereo stuff for the jeep but I can't put the stuff in with my back injury. I guess that it can wait until I'm healed.

Update in the World Of Guns "N" Jeeps

Well I'm sorry that I've been slow in posting. Here is a quick update of things that are happening.
The Jeep has now been wired with a 7 pin trailer plug and has the addition of a receiver hitch. Had to do this because the wife decided to purchase a new tent trailer so that we can go camping. The Jeep pulls it just fine. Also went for a short trail ride up the the Little Valley reservoir in the West side of the County. What a beautiful ride! I took a friend and we took along a few firearms for target practice. Rocks at 300 yards don't stand a chance.
As for guns, this is going to be cool. I have in the works to build two custom rifles built on Remington 700 actions. They will feature match grade Shilen barrels, Badger Ordnance Tactical Bolt Knobs, one will have an H.S. Precision fully adjustable Tactical stock, the other will have a Bell and Carlson A-5 tactical stock, Timney Triggers, and H.S.Precision trigger guards with ten round magazines. Then they will be coated with a Teflon based gun finish. The barrels will have a 1-10 twist for the 308 Winchester and undecided what the other caliber is going to be. I also haven't decided on the barrel length. The rifle with the H.S. Precision Stock will be priced to sale at $2450 and the other will be Priced at $2250. They will then be test fired for accuracy. I'm looking for sub 1/2 moa at a hundred yard. When the parts start coming in I'll post picture. By the way.... I'm taking orders so drop me a line!

The Jeep is home!

Finally the day has come where I can say that the Jeep is home and looking good! I have the highway tires on and all exsisting blue parts such as the role bar are now black! I need to order the new fender flares, sports bar covers, and probably new fill hoses. I haven't had time to take a picture of it yet but I will and post it soon. I'm thinking that I need to call the Jeep "FatBoy"! Hey that would even fit on a license plate! Everyone eat your heart out! My baby is back home and running great!

The Jeep is now BROWN!!!

Ok as you can see the jeep is Brown! A lovely Milk Chocolate color that makes you think of frosting on a cake! as you might be able to see in the picture the role bar is still that blue color! So in a couple of days when the girl gets to come home I'll take care of the blue left overs to make things blend! Hey how about a bikini cover in bright orange???

This is a picture prior to the brown being applied. I ended up needing to get new front fenders but thats ok. Everything is coming together quite well. In fact my nephew that sold me the jeep saw it today and is now wishing that he still owned it! He asked if I thought that I would ever sale it..... NO! Besides my daughter thinks that the jeep is hers!

Update of my world!

Ok almost a month has passed since I posted anything. Would you believe that I will be attending a Combat Carbine Class this Thursday? Then in May, I will be attending a Precision Rifle Marksmanship Class. This class will be really fun because from the sounds of it I will learn how to shoot my little 308 Winchester at great distances. We are talking about shooting out to a 1000 yards!!!! I sure hope that my scope will work in this high tech shooting world. I'll admit it, I'm nervous! My father will be attending the class with me so the two of us will be a team. The jeep is still off for paint. Had a hick-up with getting new fenders so it is on hold until they show up. Whats a guy to do??? This world would be a better place if only people were honest with each other.

Well I have purchased a car shelter and will be assembling it tonight and tomorrow. This is where I hope to build the "woody" top. The jeep is off for the bed liner paint jobs and I have decided to go with the military camo brown. This should look really good with the wood top if I stain it right. Sorry that I don't have any pics but I will be taking some as the jeep progresses through the bed liner process. I get to help with the prep work and do all the sanding! Friday evening and Saturday will be spent sanding. All the rust spots will be cut out and patched and finally the bed liner will be sprayed! I'm really excited to get this all done and I hope that I turns out well. Just wish the weather was a little better so I could get out there and work on everything! Amanda is headed out of town tomorrow and will be picking up some new saws that I will be needing for the "woody" top. My plan is to have everything finished for the car show here in town in July. It should be a one-of-a-kind if you know what I mean!

Ok Here's the scoop....

Laying in the prone position at 25 yards, the bi-pod fully extended, and using my support hand as a rest for the butt of the rifle. I fired this group with the first shot being a cold bore shot then followed by the second shot. I don't think that this is a bad group especially with the target size that I was shooting at.

This is shots number 17 and 18 out of my rifle. I still have eleven more rounds to fire through the gun before I finish up the break-in on the gun. I think that I'm going to start looking into a Nightforce scope. Ok let me say that I've already looked into the scope, now I just need to save my pennies and find a good deal!!! Well at long last the sunshade has arrived! Tell me what you think? I like the look of the rifle with it plus it makes a cool sound when you open the flip cover. I can't wait to get this out in the field and see how it works in the sunlight. When the break-in is finished that is.

On a side note.... Sniper school will be in May and will start with a three day class on just putting the bullet on the target. I'm excited to attend this training at the Swanson Tactical Training Center!!!!!

Bite the Bullet Shooting!

Well it is official! I have shot my rifle for the first time and started the long break in process. The break-in process that I chose was to fire 10 rounds one at a time and cleaning after every shot, then fire another 10 and cleaning after every other shot and then to finish it off, firing 9 rounds with cleaning after every third shot. I was able to get through the first 10 rounds and started into the second stage before I had to pack it up for the day.

I wanted to share some of my results that I got in the first stage. After firing 3 shots, the bullet impact was low left so I adjusted from there. By the time I fired my eighth shot I was zeroed. In fact the eighth shot took the "X" right out of the target. The next two shots, numbers nine and ten went in almost the same hole! Its official! I love this rifle and did i mention that there is really NO RECOIL! Love it Love it! Next time I will take pictures of the target. I just ran out of time today.

Bite the Bullet Scope Time!

Well the scope finally came today. I was supposed to be sleeping today because I have the night shift but I was to excited to get the scope on the rifle I couldn't sleep. The Burris XTR rings are massive and look extremely strong. The Butler Creek scope caps are just are they have always been and fit great. Finally done to the scope. It looks well put together and the knobs for elevation and windage are indexed out to 14. At a 1/4" per click this scope will give me 56 clicks without passing zero. The scope is on and bore sighted and knobs are re zeroed so its ready for its first shot. I just have to do the dreaded break-in on the barrel. After I take it to the range I'll write up a report of how everything went. I hope that after the break-in that the rifle will shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards.
